Our Journey

How it all began

The journey of Glorious Promised Land began over 37 years ago with a simple dream—to create a place where people could encounter God in the beauty of His creation. What started as a vision in prayer slowly took shape through faith, sacrifice, and the commitment of many hearts. The land was bought about 23 years ago, nurtured and built into a sanctuary with halls, grounds, and cottages, and opened it on 11 Nov 2011 to welcome gatherings both small and large. From quiet retreats to grand conferences, this place has been a witness to countless moments of renewal, fellowship, and worship. Today, Glorious Promised Land stands as a testimony to God’s faithfulness, a space dedicated to serving His people and glorifying His name.

How we’ve grown

Over the years, we have grown from a simple vision into a vibrant sanctuary of faith and fellowship. What began with a handful of halls and gathering spaces has expanded into spacious grounds, cottages, and facilities that now welcome thousands. With each step of growth, we have seen God’s faithfulness guiding and providing in ways beyond our imagination. From hosting small retreats to large conferences, our heart has remained the same—to glorify God and serve His people. As we continue to grow, we remain rooted in prayer, committed to community, and relentless in mission.

We believe the story is still being written. Our vision is to see this retreat centre become a beacon of hope, prayer, and renewal for people from all walks of life. In the years ahead, we dream of expanding our facilities, deepening our community programs, and welcoming more groups, schools, and families to encounter God here. As we move forward, our foundation remains the same—prayer, community, and mission—trusting that God will continue to guide every step.

Our Founders

Esther and Reji Chandy began their journey with a shared passion for God’s Kingdom
and a desire to create spaces where people could experience His presence in a deeper
way. What started as quiet prayers and conversa ons soon grew into a vision—one that
would require faith, perseverance, and trust in God’s leading. Their dream was not just
about building a property, but about cul va ng a sanctuary where lives could be
renewed and communi es strengthened in Christ.
With courage and convic on, they took their first steps over thirteen years ago, sowing
into land at the foothills of Nandi that would later become Glorious Promised Land. In
those early days, the journey was filled with challenges—financial, logis cal, and
spiritual—but through it all, God’s faithfulness carried them. Their reliance on prayer
and their belief in God’s provision became the founda on on which the retreat centre
was built.
As the vision began to take shape, Esther and Reji poured their hearts into crea ng not
just buildings and grounds, but a home where believers could gather. They dedicated
themselves to fostering community, building rela onships, and opening doors for
churches, schools, and families to experience fellowship and renewal. Every hall,
co age, and outdoor space reflects their commitment to hospitality, worship, and
mission.

For over 35 years, Esther & Reji Chandy has walked faithfully in ministry, dedicating their lives to serving God and blessing others through music, hospitality, and community-building.

Their journey began with a deep love for worship and a desire to bring people together in praise. Over time, they nurtured and built a dynamic Music Ministry, one that has grown into a vibrant community of singers and worshippers whose voices have encouraged and inspired many.

As their ministry evolved, they envisioned a place where people could step away from the assiduousness of life, to seek God in stillness and simplicity. That vision took shape in the form of a Christian Retreat Centre named Glorious Promised Land — a peaceful haven where individuals, churches, and schools come for spiritual retreats, youth camps, and refreshing getaways. Every corner of the retreat centre reflects their heart for rest, reflection, and renewal.

Whether through a song, a space, or a vision, their lives continue to speak of dedication, humility, and a deep commitment to making room — for God, for people, and for transformation.
